Not too many years ago the rule was to limit shutdowns/start-ups as components were more inclined to fail during on/offs while performing at their max and rated to fail during hundreds of doing so. Todays components are rated for the thousands so on/offs are not a worry any more.
Who's rule ? And if you turn off a server what then. My box , over amonth now..
