Question about antivirus software

I used to use Norton faithfully but because of financial situations, tried something new at the recommendation of a friend ,, and 'free' was the keyword there. I am now using Avast, along with Zone Alarm for a firewall. I am not sure how I feel about it just yet. One thing,, I had to install the google toolbar because I now get tons of popups that I never got when I had Norton. Also , I never got a trojan or anything like that until I changed to Avast, although, that may just be a coincedence ,,, but anyway ,,, are there any free ones out there, that you think are better than the other?? I would appreciate your opinion

In my opinion and I again say my opinion, I prefer both AVG and bitdefender free versions over Avast due to the release of new updates. Bitdefender updates every day, avg usually every second day and avast once or twice a week.

That in my opinion would be one of the most crucial factors. Then come the scanner itself and bitdefender may have the edge on both there.

If you wish to go paid version then the answer is real clear. Nod 32 is the absolute top notch for home user and Sophos for a networking evvironment.

Nuther question ,,, [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif[/img] looking at the BitDefender download site ,, they offer 4 different free downloads. How do I know which is right for me?There are 2 that I know wont work for me ,, but the other two I am not sure of ,, they are the Linux Edition and the Free Edition v7
