unremovable file ???
Hello to all

I have an unremovable file in Windows media player. I downloaded hijacker but really wouldnt know whats good or bad. If someone could look at it and see if a
virus or something that shouldnt be there be gone.

Download this TOOL.


Unzip it and run it. Check for updates. But don't click "Start" yet.

Reboot in safe mode. Run only HijackThis and check :

Click "Fix checked".

Make sure that you can see the hidden files and delete the folder :
C:\Program Files\winupdates\
Empty the recycle bin.

Still in safe mode, run TWICE about:Buster.("Start", now).

Reboot in normal mode and post a new log, please.

I still cannot erase the windows media file that started this. I cant drag it out of its folder. I just pops back to the folder.

Ok so what I want to do is have you reboot into safe mode as per:

Then try deleting the folder:


If it still will not allow then try right clicking it and see if it is read only. If it is then uncheck it and retry.

I have come across this one before.On right click you have no properties,delete or move ?.It wont delete in the normal way.It comes from a **** site and its not a virus.I was given one to try out and there is no way to remove it....but..........
.............I got a program called Hide Folders XP 2.4.5 http://www.fspro.net/hide-folders-xp/release-notes.html .The trial version is in the right hand side pane under Hot Links.

You will then need to remove everything that you want to keep from the Kazza shared folder,leaving the bad file in there.Rename the folder if you wish and then you can replace it with the original name folder when its all done.

You can then run 'Hide Folders XP' and and hide the folder.

There may be a possibility that you can then cut and paste the whole 'Hide Folders XP' program onto a floppy when done,but as yet I have not tried it.All I did was to put it on my backup hard drive.....
