Unhappy Uninstall IE 7 Beta 2

I am completely stumped and very frustrated.
I put IE 7 Beta 2 on one of my friend's PC. I want to upgrade to IE 7 Beta 3 and I cannot find IE 7 Beta 2 to uninstall. I have checked 'show updates' in add/remove programs and I have used a program called 'smarty uninstaller' and smarty says it doesn't exist. I cannot get beta 7 2 off that computer. I did more research and MS said that I could run a program to get it uninstalled and that didn't work. Says the uninstaller isn't a valid location.
HELP

If you cannot find any Internet Explorer 7 entry in "Add or Remove Programs", try running these commands. Each is for a different release of Internet Explorer 7 so only one will succeed.
  • %windir%\$NtUninstallie7beta1$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)
  • %windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)
  • %windir%\$NtUninstallie7b2pmx$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)
  • %windir%\$NtUninstallie7beta2$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)

Hangs During Uninstall
--If the uninstall process hangs while removing Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, delete any custom sound schemes created after installing the Internet Explorer 7 Beta and retry the uninstall.
Internet Explorer 7 Fails to Install from Specified User Account
-- If you see an error message saying you cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 7 from this user account, and you're sure it's the account you used to install, or the original installation account has been removed, you can bypass the check by:
  • Click 'Run" and type 'regedit' from the Start menu
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft]InternetExplorer
  • Right click the 'Internet Explorer' key, choose 'new', and then 'DWORD value'
  • Enter 'InstalledByUser' as the name and hit 'Enter' to finish creating the new register key
  • Retry uninstalling Internet Explorer 7

Thanks I will try again today. I did try running those commands but maybe I am doing it wrong, cuz I had googled the situation and found those commands too. What a pain.

Thanks, will try again

no go

I tried each one of those commands and they all come up 'cannot find' but from the hijack log you can see that it is installed. This is so weird. Does it have something to do with service pack two? I tried to unisntall service pack two but it would not let me.

With the system set to show hidden files & folders, open windows explorer and go to c / windows. there look for the ie7beta2 folder. Open it and see if the uninstaller exists.

If the folder isnt there then do a search for it via search.

Ding Ding, we have a winner!!
Yes Pancake I did dump the files. I had the puter a few months ago, he wanted me to 'securely wipe' his deleted files, he's a very secretive person and he wanted everything he had been surfing deleted so I used Ace Utilities do that and I dumped the restore files, then I added 7 beta 2, but then I noticed he still had a lot of pop ups so I ran the usual spyware stuff, dumped the restore files again and essentially made it impossible to get 7B2 off.......

Well I downloaded Firefox for him and he's gonna have to be happy using it. As matter of fact the laptop I set up for him only uses Firefox, so he's use to it I guess.
