My Aplolgies For The Downtime

I decided to run a windows server Liz. I chose not to run linux on a server yet due to the fact that if it ran into troubles it may take a hile to get the proper assistance whereas a windows server I can maintain on my own.

Also the windows server with zend optimizer ran faster than redhat, ubuntu and fedora core 3 that I tested..

Me and Windows server despised each other!! I ended up reformatting every blasted computer in the house because of Windows server 2003. Couldn't get the networking to function properly after I uninstalled it from the server. It just did NOT want to let go of any of the other computers regardless of what I tried. Reformatting was MY only option.

CentOS 4 and Fedora 4 ran very fast for me. Didn't try red hat or ubuntu. Settled on CentOS since Coop had that one installed and could talk me thru it.

And you have an advantage over me, when I started with my linux server, I knew NOTHING about linux...YOU do know something about the language. Liz

I still use linux as my everyday operating system on my new Dell laptop..

I also have a thread about going it alone, as in hosting yourself, on the same site. It's culled from months of research I did prior to my going it alone. I don't know if you would find any of it helpful???? Liz
