No it just booted to compaq logo and then counted up ram and got stuck just the same.

It could be memmory, but it could also be a bad HDD or other IDE device. If the system beeps more than once that indicates a problem so does it do that ?

If you do want to test your memory (probably a good idea) go here and follow directions to test from boot floppy or CD.

It could also be bad mem slots, was the system very usty inside ?

I'm going to have to wait untill tomorrow night to be able to run the memory test. And no it wasn't very dusty with the exeption of the cpu's heat sink. Is it even going to read the floppy when I boot it? because I can't go into the bios and the keyboard won't even go on

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. He took the computer to some (tech) that he believes is good. Well I guess he didn't trust that I could fix it with your help. I told him that if I couldn't fix it with MOBO than it couldn't be fixed, but if he'd rather pay some dude a hundred and some odd dollars for something that was probably simple or for the guy to just tell him it can't be fixed i'll just let him. Thanks for your help though MOBO.
