apple computers

My mom had a IIGS and now has a G4. She has lots of info on the IIGS that she would like to get on the G4 but doesnt know how to do that, and although I have tried, I dont either. Her disks from the old computer do not work in the new one. Is there a way?

I have a low level certification for Mac OS X, I didn't see your post. What is the question you are asking? What does your mom want? Very little of MAC software is compatible with the next upgrade.

Der, are you sure it's the IIGS that your mom had? That is an older apple, similar to the one I used in College in the 80s? If this is the case there is no way the files will transfer over, but I'm trying to find out a way she may be able to copy the files to maybe a firewire drive. I'm going to email the Apple instructor that came to give us the week long class here. He's not real good at getting back to me, but I'll let you know. Otherwise if you have an Apple store in a mall you can ask them for a solution. I have this huge Apple manual I could read thru also.

Hi Melodi ,, sorry it took so long to get back to this. Yes ,, I am sure it was a IIGS ,, actually I thought it was more like the 70's but yes. I didnt think it was possible and dont want you to go to tons of trouble. I went through my moms apple manual ,, a couple of them actually, but couldnt find anything to give me any ideas. I am not familiar enough with that kind of computer to understand it all anyway, I dont think. Appreciate what you are doing hon ,,, thanks

Took me awhile to get back to you I just got back from vacation. I checked around and there is no good way for the end user to move that information. What exactly is she wanting to move? Programs or documents? Personal settings? Thanks
