Got a question/New mobo, buzzing with sound system

Background: In order to build computers per M$ regs, we have to have a tech computer as part of the process so we bought a new mobo and cpu, etc to build it. Well, we decided to upgrade MY mobo and use the one I had as the tech computer. So I ended up with this mobo: ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 and an AMD 3200+ processor. We got it up and running after some issues with the memory we bought, it was labeled 400 but was actually 333 and incompatible with the 400 I already had! So after swapping out the 400 in the computer we are building the daughter who is running a single stick on a AMD 2600 board, we got everything settled in.

My problem now is the sound system has a very slight irritating buzz to it. Just loud enough I finally unplugged the speaker system altogether. I was using an Inspire 2.1 2500 by Creative and the sound is onboard supplied by ULi/ALi M5455 AC'97 Audio Controller.

Any ideas as to make the buzzing go away (and yes, I had the plug in the right hole, LOL). Liz

This is the 64 bit driver
http://www.asrock.com/Drivers/ALi_Ch...XP64(5850).zip

It may be using the 32 bit version by default so try installing it and see if that cures the issue.

I've got the 64 bit version on the cd. I thought since my system was using the 32 bit version of windows, that's what I needed but I need the 64 bit version? Liz

Thats coreect Liz. I figured you would use the 64 bit version. Have you tried the speaker set on another system to rule out if its the issue ?

Mobo, it worked fine with the other motherboard. So I will try uninstalling the current drivers and then reinstalling the 64 bit set and see what happens. And will report back and let you know. Liz

Mobo, the driver I installed from our disk was the same one you had here. We had downloaded it just two days ago.

It didn't work, the buzzing is still there. I suspect I need a sound card for this beast. LOL. Anyway, that will just have to wait and if the buzzing gets too annoying, I'll turn OFF the sound. Liz

Update to this: turns out it was a set of jumpers we hadn't set correctly. Liz
