Keyboard Problem
I have a MS Digital Media Pro Keyboard. It works fine but the periphireral buttons (ie calculator, My Documents, My Pictures, Zoom etc) do not. Here is the situation I install the IntelliType software and it works. Reboot and the keyboard works but none of the peripherals do. Reinstall they work until the next reboot. All diagnostics say the keyboard is fine and the buttons all work. But the peripherals only work from install to reboot. I got the keyboard a few months ago and it was working fine then today I went to use the calcualtor hit the button and nothing. Any ideas what could be wrong? I have uninstalled all recently installed programs but no change. I am stumped on this one. TIA

Look in device manager to see if there are any errors showing and verify that the keyboard that is present is the proper one and not just the standard keyboard. Also try a different usb port then reboot.

Device manager says the device is working properly and it is pluged into the PS/2 port. I tried another keyboard I had and it did the same thing. The keyboard works I am using it now what doesn't work is the other nice to have buttons. Any other ideas?

Sounds like a driver issue. Uninstall the keyboard totally from device manager, reboot and try reinstalling .

I don't get any easy problems. Tried updating the driver nothing. It says the drivers are there. From the Run Box typing mskey brings up the Keyboard Diagnostic Utility. This tells me that every key I am pushing is registering. example pushing the calculator key and the diagnostic says Calc key on
Calc key break so the key is working sending a signal through to the CPU but the desired result is not happening. Could there be something missing in the registery? |

One more thing by uninstalling and then reinstalling the software the keyboard will act fine and all keys will work until the computer is rebooted. What happpens during reboot to "uninstall" the software is the key, but I do not know where to look.

Another clue maybe. Uninstalling the MS Intellitype software and the calculator button works but not the various folder buttons, favorite program buttons, or the zoom

Problem fixed. The offending program was Hot Keys. Just removed it from Startup and bingo all keyboard functions normal.
