a510e

Help. I brought a ladies hp a510e today and I dropped it in my livingroom. Not from very high and it landed on carpet but it won't power on. The power light indicator is flashing. I looked on HPs site and they said that if that light if flashing it's a power source problem. I'm at work today worring that I may not get if fixed or worse will have to pay to get fixed for her. I can't do anything for another 8 hours. If anyone reading this has any suggestions please feel free to advise me. I'm no hardware expert. Has anyone else dropped a pc before? I don't think it hit that hard, but maybe it did. Thanks

firstly , rip it open and un-plug and re-plug every cable , ribbon , cord , wire , cards , ram etc..... a small drop should,nt break anything ( mobo dropped enough of them in a drunken stooper ) and you hopefully just dislodged something. the power source light could really be any of the above .

anybody interested in what happened? Well I while at work, I went home and got the computer and brought it to work. We disassembled the entire first floor of the building and brought to the second floor then vice versa. Oh that was work. When we finished at 5pm our hardware tech ripped out all the cords did what 700 suggested and nada. So we found the right (almost) kind of power supply and swapped it out. I sure the pc wasn't under warranty.....
It runs now, or at least it did at work i'm home now and going to give it a try

I like old technology, it makes me feel young. This one isn't nearly as old as some of the ones I take in. This one at least has pentium 3 equivilant.

You know, it wasn't THAT long ago that you were working on Win 95 and Win 98 machines and really enjoying it.........

The one I am typing this message IS old, Win98 not even SE 3gig hdd
