Building a computer Need help

Building a new system, facing some problems

the system would turn on, and load but it would either stop or restart then I can't turn it back on. I have to clear the cmos to turn it back on again. by not being able to turn on i mean the the motherboard is running all fans are running but no display.

my set up is

asus a8N E deluxe (used, bought it online)
amd 64 3200 + with big typhoon
7900 GT
OCZ 520W power stream
80 gb drive
dvd rw

i'm suspecting a faulty motherboard.....

but the seller was very reputable, so i dunno

Im thinking motherboard or heat issue. Check the bios version and whether or not there is a bios update available.

hmm...kinda hard to explain

if i go into the bios and exit the bios then i will lose the signal

it wont' reach the windows logo and restart before there and lose signal
but it shouldn't reach windows cuz my hd is from my old computer and shouldn't work on it cuz it's not formated. hope you understand what i mean

each time it loses signal, i have to clear cmos to get it back

I just did some looking and it appears as that board requires a rather large power supply.

Quote:

The A8N-SLI is rather picky about what powersupply is used with it, and that’s partly due to the fact it is designed as an ATX 12V v2.0 motherboard, featuring a 24-pin power connecter and dual 12-volt rails coming from the powersupply. Although this recommendation goes for all systems, the A8N-SLI demands you have a good powersupply, the minimum requirement is 400-watts. It doesn’t have to be an ATX 12V v2.0 powersupply per se, nor feature a 24-pin plug, but it needs to be able to supply at least 18-amps of current or 200-watts on the 12-volt rail. Of course there’s a difference between running a single PCIe video card with this motherboard and running two in SLI. Up until two

i think the one i have is sufficient, dont' think it would be a power issue

Well if you have another video card to try then I would try that then perhaps your thoughts are correct.
