Some mechanic asked me to see if I could fix his computer last night. Just Before I tell him to buy a new computer I wanned to ask you guys if I should allow this guy to have another computer. I opened his case and the smell reminded me of this one time I set my kitchen on fire. First thing I noticed, was the bird connector melted on to the floppy drive and the wires from the bird connector fused to the ones from the hard drive. Already I though this is a gonner. He asked me to test if anything could be spared. So i cut those wires off and tried to start the PC just to get a boot screen with only video, ram and keyboard connected. I found out the PC no longer needs a power button cuz as soon as you plug it in it starts and it doesn't respond to reset button either. Then, the fans from the video card sound like siren going on and off. Key board kept blinking like crazy and the CPU sounded like a little electric engine getting cranked up, kinda of like a floppy sometimes. I told him that I'll test his ROM Drives tonight.... But shoud I build this guy a new pc or no.

Yeah I'm thinking about charging him about 100 bucks plus parts and GAS offcourse . I'll get him some cheap parts mostly all refurbished and see what he thinks. I was wondering, if I want to build a computer for people and don't want them to purchase winxp cuz it makes the pc seems so much more expensive, what do I need to do to get just individual licenses, Do I need like a permit or something. (edit: YAY I got 2 medals now)

The only way would be volume licensing and you would need a business number of course for that.

I sure hope computers/laptops are around to stay...and not everyone is going to want a lapop....I doon't LIKE them myself...to danged small and sensitive to the touch.

My husband and I just started our own business..

As far as building him a computer, if you charge him money, you BETTER have a license by the state of FL to charge for that. Liz
