Red hat or suse, both are very good..for me anyway..I guess if I had grown up in computers during the dos era then i would go for debian or similar..

I'm adding to this now. I am installing Suse on an older, former windows 98 box. I choose Suse because someone gave me a CD. Am I liking it? So far I am only watching the little pictures fly by as it's runs it's narrative while installing. At work, we are in training for our MAC OS X (10) certification and the trainer is a big Unix geek and he said Linux was similar, so I"m giving it a try. I will keep you updated. For all I know the hard drive on this old machine might die as soon as it's installed
Was that an OMEN or what. 19 seconds left to finish installing Suse and bammm I hear CLANK CLANK CLANK the tell tale signs your hard drive is about to fail.....stay tuned

Well if anyone cares....the HDD with Suse on it died....comletely. But there is hope yet, I have another recycling center picked up computer with windows 95 loaded on it. I'm going to load Suse on that and see what happens.

Ok even after having to replace my water heater tonight to the tune of $1000 USD that struck me as very funny Mobo. I'll put that request into the recycling center. I'll take no computer less than 10 years old....and my phone will never ring. Hey, I get these boxes and it's like a trip down memory lane. Anyway, now that the water heater is better, tomorrow night I can start loading suse on the win 95 box.....
