Did you know that there are roughly 30,000 new ****ography links created every day? And something like 5000 new ****ography web sites registered daily? And that's just ONE category! It's hard to believe, but we're faced with facts like these in providing content filtering for our enterprise customers.
Every family with children accessing the Internet should have some form of URL filtering. We talk about "family-safe Internet"; others might say "parental control", "content filter", or use still other terms. With K9 Web Protection, you get the most sophisticated, and we think most accurate, solution on the market today for protecting you and your family from Internet content you don't want in your home. There are two ways to think about effectiveness: * Over-blocking - If the solution you deploy blocks lots of sites you want blocked, but in the process, blocks other sites your family needs to see, you have an "over blocking", or "false positive" problem. This kind of problem is especially annoying for busy families because somebody is always calling from the other room, "MOM! I can't do my homework 'cuz this thing you installed is broken...!" The practical result is that the product is too annoying to use, so you uninstall it. * Under-blocking - If the solution you deploy doesn't understand, or "know about" enough of the content you want to restrict, then your children end up stumbling upon (or deliberately finding) content you're trying to keep them away from. Your goal of a "Family-Safe Internet Experience" is lost. The product "doesn't work". Both of these challenges have the greatest impact on quality and value you'll experience. Together, they'll determine how satisfied you'll be with whatever product you choose. Think of it this way: it's easy for a product to block all objectionable sites, if you block everything else, too - you can have 100% assurance that your kids will never see an inappropriate site. But they won't be able to see anything else, either. For any other experience, it's going to be a trade-off. K9 Web Protection uses technology that is superior in both coverage (minimizing under-blocking) and accuracy (limits over-blocking). We have one of the best coverage rates in the market, because we can recognize and categorize web content "on the fly", even if we don't have a site in our database. And our technology is also highly accurate, because we have a more rigorous set of rules for judging a site (after all, we have to be able to teach machines to do it...), so we get coverage and accuracy WITHOUT over-blocking. Okay was able to install it all.. I will have to check it later tonight sometime... Is there a good way to test it other than typing in bad stuff in google and see how it works?

I do notice one issue with the program k9... It does not blick all inappropiate sites in firefox... After going to one website, it just blocked the pictures in it, but not the links and text... Though in opera and internet explorer it does block the website... I may just name the problems off as i go...
Rat The tracking and logging is niceto watch your younger childs sites.. The first thing that it includes that is nice. Is a site check that talks about the site and tells what category it is in, (Hacking/Violence/****ography/etc...). You can also click on a reports tab where it tells you all the websites you have went to and it tells you all the sites you or your child has been to.... The program also has different lvl settings : High Blocks the most commonly blocked categories, plus Abortion, Gay/Lesbian, and Unrated sites. Default Blocks the most commonly blocked categories, but allows Unrated sites. Moderate Blocks Adult/Mature Content, ****ography, and Nudity only. Also blocks Spyware. Minimal Blocks ****ography only. Monitor Blocks nothing - only logs traffic Custom Switch to Advanced Mode to configure. So far it looks like it isnt to bad, except of course the exception of firefox, which everyone uses... Rat |
