A new recommended update of the AVG Free Edition is available. It contains fixes and improvements of many program components of the AVG Anti-Virus. Most important changes include:

* Several issues in the Personal E-mail Scanner - namely plain text authentication and LanSuite client support
* two occurances of the "Buffer overrun" bug on certain systems
* the "AVG CC not responding" bug on certain Windows 9x configurations should have been fixed finally

Another important change has been made in the processing of embedded files (i.e. infected files in archives). If an infected file is found in archive and the archive is smaller then 5MB, it is possible to move the whole archive directly into the AVG Virus Vault. Also, independent of the file size, it is always possible to invoke Windows Explorer and go to the archive in question from within the "Virus found" dialogue. From there, the user can open the archive using the appropriate archiver and delete the infected file. This should greatly improve user experience when handling infected files.

We recommend you to update your AVG Free Edition using the built-in update function so that the much smaller differential update is used.
