I've had this on my desktop for a while now, mostly because I though I had gotten rid of it a while ago. Now it's back with a vengence. Everytime we bring the computer out of Suspend, Microsoft AntiSpyware pops up little boxes saying that IST.ISTbar Browser Modifier is trying to install itself, like once every 2 mins for 30 mins!!! I've run MS Antispyware, Spybot, Adaware SE, and AVG Free. They all always find something, but I STILL have this nasty little bugger.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Lets see what we can accomplish here then.
Lets rescan once again now with hijack, insert a check next to each of the following then close all other open browser windows and click :fix checked:



O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [uDeE9] C:\WINDOWS\gukmdhm.exe


Then set the system to show hidden files & folders as per http://www.spyware911.net/forum/index.php?...ge&pg=showfiles

Reboot into safe mode http://www.spyware911.net/forum/index.php?...age&pg=safemode

Open windows explorer find then delete:
C:\WINDOWS\gukmdhm.exe

Navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.


Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot, rescan with hijack and post a fresh hijack log.

Wow, thank you SOOOO much for a reply. I posted this problem on another forum before stephthegeek suggested this one, and they STILL haven't responded.

Followed instructions, though there were already no files in the C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder. And I didn't do any virusy type scans in the meantime, so if let me know if you want me to before another HTJ log.

Ok so now lets download this tool http://securityresponse.symantec.com...r/FxIstbar.exe

<span style="color:#CC0000">STEP 2</span>
Open FxIstbar.exe and scan the system to clean out the infection.

<span style="color:#CC0000">STEP 3</span>
Download TDS-3 trojan scanner from http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=download

Then you will need to manually update it so follow the instructions given here
http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=update

Now open the program, pause until its finished its mini test then click system testing / full scan

If anything is found, right click and select delete to each when the scan completes itself.

<span style="color:#CC0000">STEP 4</span>
Go to Start>Run and type msconfig Press enter.

When msconfig opens, click the Launch System Restore Button.
On the next page, click the System Restore Settings Link on the left.

Check the box labeled Turn off System restore on all Drives.


Reboot. Go back in and Turn System Restore Back on. A new Restore Point will be created.

Then rerscan again with hijack and post a fresh hijack log.

1. Click Start > Run.
2. Type regedit > OK.

3. Navigate to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

4. In the right pane, delete the value:

"IST Service" = "C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\ISTsvc.exe"
"[5 random ASCII characters]" = "[path to adware]"

5. Navigate to and delete the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ISTsvc
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IST

6. Exit the Registry Editor.

Also, I heard about this somewhere else....http://www.integratedsearchtechnologies.com/ has a link to remove their software from your computer. Think it would work or just opening the door to more spyware?
