Unable to get network connection

Hello:

I ran the winsock fix and it didn't help. I technically am not working on this PC but someone else is. He put a different NIC in also so it's not the card. When I did a ping the it came up 'error in transmitting error code 5'. Adaware and Stinger have been run. Here is the HJT, thanks so much.

Log looks fine. I would make sure to remove all nic cards in device manager. Then check the network cable. Now reboot the system and reinstall the nic upon reboot with all its current drivers. Check device manager for any problems. Then try creating a new connection in Network Connections. As well you should disable McAfee for this entire process.

You do have a virus sitting there.That may not be helping.

Please download the OTMoveIt by OldTimer
Save it to your desktop.
Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it
Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntsystem.exe


Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
Click the red Moveit! button.
Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

It actually turned out to be a corrupt install of McAfee. After I unloaded McAfee and ran the McAfee 'get ridder' tool it went on line. Thanks.

Oh and Pancake, i would have used your tool, but the person who had been working on that PC once I got it to connect to the internet he gave it back to the owner so I couldn't do any more with it. Can you tell me which in the hjt log gave you the indication of the virus so in the future I know what to look for, in order to try out the tool you posted. thanks

Its just a matter of knowing the good from the bad files.I do,maybe,upto six logs a day and you get use to spotting them and if in doubt just Google the exe file or the complete path.
