Ive been dying to post, lol, but until had no reason to which is good I suppose...however, my sisters (new) pc has decided to go really slow, she couldnt connect to the internet - she has a broadband wireless network set-up- but re-booting the modem seems to have fixed that aspect for now. McAfee came with this PC but it appears to have disabled itself and it doesnt want to re-enable. It also says it needs 'verifying' which she didnt have to do when she first put it on.......It's just SLOW...she casually mentioned 'wild tangent' so I got her to run adaware and spybot, nothing found, so here is her hijack this log to look at if youd be so kind [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

Hmm..The log is clean as a whistle Julie..

What i do see however is some obvious trouble with McAfee.If they have a McAfee cdrom then have them completely uninstall every piece of it. Then reboot and try it out.

If they have no other way to reinstall McAfee then have them go into start / run / msconfig and disable any startup entries for McAfee as well as start / run / services.msc..Then again reboot and try it out..


have them run an adaware scan as well :Tutorial here http://www.spyware911.net/forum/index.php?...page&pg=adaware

If that doesn't do the trick then have them do this and see if anything turns up:

Download TDS-3 trojan scanner from http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=download

Then you will need to manually update it so follow the instructions given here
http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=update

Now open the program, pause until its finished its mini test then click system testing / full scan

If anything is found, right click and select delete to each when the scan completes itself.

Hi, thanks for replying. Sorry Ive taken so long to get back...we ran the TDS-3 trojan scanner, nothing there. I got her to install Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta prog, clean also (after doing Adaware and Spybot). She un-installed all things McAfee but there was alot of stuff left behind so I got her to run the disc in the hope there might be some sort of repair or uninstall for it. There wasnt, so she carried right on and re-installed. Things seem to have settled down since that was done. However, some aspects of McAfee seem to be duplicated? Heres her log
