Task Manager

Hi [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

Im doing a few fixits on my sons friends laptop and am not able to access Task Manager either by ctrl/alt/del or right-clicking on the taskbar. All that comes up is a box showing wireless network connection and Local Area Connection, and I have to press escape to get rid of it. Its apparently been like this for some weeks, so I dont know what the boy (he's 12) has done. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif[/img]

I still just get the connections box up [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img] I tried to re-install task manager by following these instructions from TweakXP. That didnt work either :slap:

Im wondering if there arent restrictions in place. Run a hijack log and look for any restriction entries.

Navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.


Empty the Recycle Bin


Reboot, retry

Genious...Well thats an overstatement but your welcome.

ASlso julie please reopen hijack, click config, backups and restore the fiollowing line please. It was for wireless networking and i shouldn't have touched it.
