Hi,
I have been having internet connection problems while playing my games on the internet. I have tryed multiple things, reformat, direct connection, and many other things. Yet, none of them have worked. So someone gave me an idea too ping my isp. I believe all you do is ping their website. . . Well I did and got the following results: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\Documents and Settings\Kevin>ping www.sigecom.net Pinging sigecom.net [63.64.9.100] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Ping statistics for 63.64.9.100: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss), C:\Documents and Settings\Kevin>ping www.sigecom.net Pinging sigecom.net [63.64.9.100] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. C:\Documents and Settings\KevinRat>C: C:\Documents and Settings\Kevin>ping www.sigecom.net Pinging sigecom.net [63.64.9.100] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. I lso tryed pinging yahoo.com, too make sure Im not crazy. It got the same results. I believe I maybe on a fake node or something? I do have a cable connection. . . What should I do? Any ideas? The weird part is that I can connect too the internet pretty much just fine. My download speeds aren't the best and my gaming is awful . . . Kevin |

Can you get out on the Internet on this machine?
What firewall are you using?

See that is the weird part. . . This has been over a few months. . . I can connect too the internet, as oyu can see. This computer is the computer I use too do everything. I had no firewall running when I tryed pinging the sites... I do have Zone Alarm, but I didn't have it running.
I really am starting too think it is not my computer, but my isp problem. I believe I may be on a screwed up node. They have been having quite a few problems, but this has gone on too long. Im starting too get really mad about this! Rat |

Did you check the connectors on the back of the computer. Sometimes the most obvious is the last thing we check. remove the cable and then plug it back in. the contacts could have dust in them. Also unplug the modem and plug it back in. keep doing this on everything pinging each time. If this doesnt work call your ISP.

Yeah I called them a while ago. They said that you cant ping sites anymore due to a recent virus that went through the internet network. So, that is the reason, I thought it actually had something to do with my internet problems while gaming, but who knows...

I have known of instances where just having a firewall installed ran some intyerference although it wasn't running.
Especially with a router according to dlink. |

I will try that... After I run my game a few times, I will see if that worked at all...

I don't know what the deal is. These crazy disconnection problems are driving me up the wall. Next step is to try a new Video card, because my old one is very very loose in the back of my computer. It may not be getting a very good connection, though I don't believe that has to with it. I may have to check the connection with the cable box. Gosh, this is insane...
