ok, every 5 to 10 minutes my pc freezes for about 5 seconds or so. It all happened after I was prompted to do a disk check at startup. I did it and ever since my pc has done this. I've tried virtually every thing: checked for dust, compressed files, disk cleanup, used adaware, disk defragmenter, and nothing has worked.... if you have any ideas please tell me. Oh, and I have alot of disk space left too..... 68 GB

Could be a failing hard drive or overheating system. Depending on the hard drive brand you will need the diagnostics tool for it, reboot from it and run the nessecary tests. I can give you a link for the tools but I will first need the brand of drive.

When you did the chk disk, did you also have windows repair or try to repair the hard disk, make sure that you have windows do the repair. There is also aftermarket software available to do the same thing.
