Hey guys, here's a problem I'm having on one of my computers. I wanted to install XP Prof. on it, but for some reason my computer will not run any .exe files and I would like to restore it and then install XP Prof. on it. I can't do a restore b/c it uses a .exe, I can't run any software, and I'm stumped about what to do. It's probably simple but I've been trying for a few days to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And please let us know how things work out. I am planning on a tutorial for that exact problem and already have one other fix so a second wouldn't hurt as well..

And good find Rat..

Something just occerred to me here after re-reading this thread. Im referring to the cause of the trouble in the first place. This can be a result of a worm or virus being present.

A couple of thigs to do:
Run a full online scan here [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]

Then Create a folder on your hard drive somewhere like in "My Documents" and name it Hijackthis
Download 'Hijack This to its own folder [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]
Doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here.

Hey Mobo I would love to try your suggestion, but after I got the computer working. I hopped in my car and gave it to my friend in texas to do his photoshop applications. That's why I've been out of pocket the past few days. Next time I'm down there, I'll run the scan and paste the contents for you. :icon_thumb:
