my dad got this msg on comp and cant use any programs now

cross your fingers now as im running put of stuff to try..

Bring up task manager again (ctrl - alt - del )
Click file | new task
Then type restore
Then hopefully a window will popup. If it does, double click the rstrui.exe and do a system restore to some point before any trouble came.

i typed it and i got that same msg i always get . then i xed out and it poped up again. so i xed out then i got this windows could not locate, make sure u typed the name correctly or something like that.

use the dell restore cd and bring the system back to when you bought it..If you could get it online I could take control of it on msn messenger and repair it but at this point thats not possible.

do you think i should just tell my dad to bring it to a computer shop so they can reformat it? or is the dell restore cd easy to use? cause i dont wana mess up anything

The dell restore cd is easy to use yes..Put it in and reboot the system

o and he baught his computer in ether 1998 or 1999 is this gona change anything like with the programs. Also is it gona be easy to do with the dell cd thing. cause then i gota install IE, modems and stuff. so yea

so wait what is gona happen after im done rebooting? do i need to install IE and serveric paks and netgears and stuff

It will change everything yes..There will be quite a bit to do so if your not upto it then yes bring it in for service..

well he just took his computer to a re format place and hes thinking of doing the reformat. because he doesnt have the cds to alot of his programs/drivers/video stuff so hes gona lose like $1,000 of stuff
