Windows XP Pro, IE6, Zone Alarm Firewall, AVG, Counter Spy, Ad Aware etc System clean.
Ok I have been chasing this problem for awhile. Here is a description of the problem:

I run 3 open IE windows. If I click on a link and a new window opens I move that window to the lower right corner of the screen to keep from distracting my view. During the session all subsquent windows will open in the bottom right rather than the default upper left. Screen saver starts and runs normally but after about an hour the screen saver will start to run in the background and the last open window will be on top. Clicking the screen brings the screen saver back on top but it closes the window that was visible. Now the wierd part if I do not move the new open window to the lower right then the screen saver works normally. I do automotive repair and we look for cause and effect or commonality ie what is the common function that would cause the effect or code. What could be the common function that causes the screen saver to run in the background after moving an open window? Any one have any ideas? TIA

The only thing i can think of is low system resources, like memory. How much ram does the system have ?

More information about this problem. As I narrow the symptoms hopefully an answer will arrive. What is happening is this I leave the computer unattended with 3 IE windows open. The screensaver starts normally, then for some unknown reason the computer will switch from one open window to another and it is at this point that the screen saver continues to run, but in the background. Changing to a wired mouse does not help. Tha problem is therefore why does the computer change from one open window to another with no input from the mouse? This also happens when I am reading on one window. For no reason the screen will change to another open window. I can be in word and boom I'm seeing my yahoo portal. Nowe does this happen all the time. No maybe once twice a day sometimes not at all. More like not at all but it does happen enough to notice and I would like to fix it. Any ideas?

It certainly is a strange issue. I think it may be javascripting but im not sure. We can reregister the javascript and see if that remedies things. If not then what we should do is look for commonalities like what windows are open, if they are web pages and are they always the same windows that are open.

Lets try the javascript reregistering first.
1.Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 jscript.dll, and then click OK.
3. Click OK.
4. Click Start, and then click Run.
5. In the Open box, type regsvr32 vbscript.dll, and then click OK.
6. Click OK.

Also, find out the make/ model video card and get the latest video drivers and install those as well.

I'll check back in a few hours if you have any questions.

Thank you for your help. I reregistered the dlls. I am confused as to the updated driver I need. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 5900 video card. The site is confusing. I'll see if reregistering the dlls help and ask the nvidia people what driver I need. Thank you,
