Hi Guys & Gals,
My Girlfriend has the following problem,
1, she can connect to the internet but no internet programs will run, we have tried IE 6., Mozilla firefox, msn etc , with the browsers we just get a 404.

she has:-
win xp pro sp2
512 ram
amd 2500.

what we have tried so far:-
turning of the Firewall, both xp & zonealarm.
running a full disk AV scan symantec which has just been updated the day before.
a reg scan.

it seems to me like she cannot connect to the isp server properly although it says connected.
we are both stumped.

Oh I almost forgot she cannot do a restore as all the restores seemed to have vanished.

Hi shelly.

Lets try a few things and see if anything brings a resolution:

1.Flush the dns as per:
start / run then type cmd. At the commend line paste this ipconfig /flushdns

2.Then clear all temp files as per: [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]

If that doesnt bring a solution then download this to a floppy.

Create a folder on your the drive somewhere like in "My Documents" and name it Hijackthis
Download 'Hijack This to its own folder [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]
Doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it to the floppy , and copy its contents here.
