Well nothing is that easy it seems.
Can you open any program under works ? If so click help then "about" an see what version it says.

everything else in works opens fine and the Version is 8.0.

Ok, lets download this tool, install then run it and take note of the microsoft works keys and write em down.. We may need them later.

Then try installing this update for works and see if it helps after a reboot:

okay, i have the website for the update, but which tool are you talking about when you say dowload "this" tool?

Sorry for the confusion but I was talking about the update itself so install that then reboot and retry it out.
