Reformatting Screen Problem
![]() Ok, so I have reformatted my hard drive many-a-times. I recently got a laptop hand-me-down from my brother. It has Linux installed and I was very confused about it so I decided to uninstall Linux and put Windows XP Professional on the computer. My problem is though on this new laptop, a HP Pavillion ZE4500, I go insert the Windows Disc and go into the setup. Then it says something like "inspecting computers hardware..." after this happens the screen goes black. So, based off this I pluged an actual monitor up to and that monitor whent black at the same point. Please Help, even if you have the sightest idea of what is happening. |

You may need to wipe the hard drive clean like with maxtor powermax. A low level ( write zeroes to the drive )format due to the fact that windows may not even be able to detect the hard drives linux partitions.

You may need to get a bootable win98 floppy if it has a floppy drive with Fdisk on it and reparition the whole hard drive.

Mobo, I would do that, but what would happen in this senerio. I get this Maxor thing and erase my entire hd. then I got to install widows and the problem still happens. Then I stuck will a useless laptop, right?
Lazer, there is no flappy disc drive. Also, I was confused by that anyway. |
