Holy crapper. Since my last post few hours ago... i went on to do a 2000 word paper and a 500 word auto biography. I come back. The doc wants to sand a bobcats ass... melodi is trying to find a bobcat. The lap top is still a night light. doc got 3 medals and is labeled advanced member (Unfair ... I been strugling to get 2 he got 3 in 1 day) And for the first time Mobo didn't solve the prob in less than 3 posts.... This is freaking amazin... record breaker. OOOOh... Ilmost forgot about the snow angel and the jamaican bobsledder. Jeez!!! I guess I'll do a lil research to try to contribute to this operation. Talk to you guys tomorrow.

Mobo,
(Much to your disappointment I'm sure), I'll be out from 9:00am PST to around 2:00 pm PST. I will be back for sure. Don't think I've abandoned ship. Thanks again for all your help.

Kadu,
Notice it says Advanced "member" and not Advanced "Techie" . (You are probably aready hip to my technical prowness)

While you are writing , maybe you could pen a short ode to my computer. Possibly it could make us remember Melodi's angelic voice and make Mobo's headache go away.( he's taken to eating HDDs). It could remember the days when this computer did something besides eat up electricity!!!!

As for the medals,
Let me suggest monkeying around in SFC while owning a Dell without any factory recovery disks. It's a sure fire way to get more than 3 medals.

If it wasn't for Mobo and Melodi pulling me out from the edges of the Abyss, I'd be a goner.

Speaking of Dell, I think I'll buy someone at Dell a present......."A Meat Shirt and a Pet Alligator!!!!! " I was on hold for over an hour yesyerday and then got cut off. llovely.......just lovely

Anybody want to hear why I was in SFC?

I DO  I DO

I can't even begin to imagine why someone who's as technologically advanced as you Doc, would be using the SFC command, unless there is something about yourself you are not telling us, like you really are an advanced techie sent by the enemy to put Mobo in to permanent Migraine?

Kadu, I do have the bobcat, he's standing by, just waiting on the sandpaper. A nice 2000 word Ode to this computer might get you a few more medals. I know it would mean a lot of extra credit!!

Update on sledding the 17 year old broke her wrist, the 19 year old sprained some fingers, my son's left butt cheek is rumored to be bruised (didn't check for myself) the 13 year old tired out before anyone else and I FEEL GREAT.

After much deliberation, myself and melodi did some digging round behing the bushes, barn and well other places I cannot tell. Then we put the noodles together and came up with this...

Cross your fingers and toes but not eyes at this point.
Download the file ( [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] )from dell. then execute it to create a set of floppies. they should get the cdrom functioning so we can use the setup command .

<span style="color:#FF0000">The file contains a compressed (or zipped) set of files. Download the file to a folder on your hard drive, and then run (double-click) it to unzip the set of files. Follow the instructions to create a set of floppy diskettes, and then use the diskettes to complete the installation.</span>

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">Now on the the meat and potatoes</span>:vertag:
1. Insert the Windows 98 CD into the CD-ROM drive.

2.Insert your setup boot floppy disk into the floppy drive.

3.Reboot your computer :icon_thumb:

4.At the MS-DOSĀ® prompt, type the following commands and press the <Enter> key after each command:
x: (where x indicates the letter of your CD-ROM drive)
cd win98
setup

A prompt to start Scandisk appears.

5.Press the <Enter> key.

6.When Scandisk has finished checking the hard drive, press the <x> key.
The Welcome to Windows 98 Setup window appears.

7.Press the <Enter> key.
The Microsoft Windows 98 Setup Wizard window appears.

8.Verify that c:\windows (Recommended) is selected as the default directory, and then click Next to install the Windows files.
The setup program prepares the Windows directory and checks for available disk space.
The Setup Options window appears

9.Click the appropriate option for your computer, and then click Next.

10.Blah Blah Blah continue on :icon_thumb:

To All,
I'm back and ready for action.
While this flopy is formatting, I was thinking of flashing the bios and powering down part way thu on the only operable laptop I have left.
Better yet, It could be a Poll question
More on the SFC saga/excuse and ???? in regards to sledding.
GTG formatting is done.

Mobo,
I download the file and open it. I click the setup box, it starts extracting and near the end, my fricken screen goes blank...... 4 times now. I read and reread your instructions until my eyes bled.
What the heck am I doing wrong.
On the side......I think it may have given me a STD.
